www wednesday \\ 1-9-19

It’s my first WWW Wednesday of 2019! Yay, 2019! Yay, WWW Wednesday! You go, 2019; you go, WWW Wednesday. I haven’t done one of these in a long time so I am looking forward to doing this one ๐Ÿ™‚

WWW Wednesday is a book blog meme hosted byย Taking On A World of Wordsย where book bloggers answer these questions:

  • What are you currently reading?
  • What are you reading next?
  • What did you just finish reading?

Just Finished

I just finished two books that I want to talk about this week. On Monday, I read a children’s graphic novel called THE TEA DRAGON SOCIETY which was adorable and friendshippy and queer and lovely. It was about a girl named Greta who is training to become a blacksmith with her family, but also starts learning the art of caring for adorable winged creatures called tea dragons, from whose horns you can make amazing tea that allows you to experience memories. There’s tea and cute animals and a friendship with a mysterious prophetess who has lost all her memories, and it is just a beautifully illustrated and written story that I will recommend to everyone.

I also read Hal Elrod’s THE MIRACLE MORNING, which is basically his routine for waking up early and doing various things for personal development. I mainly read it because I’ve seen a lot of bullet journal spreads for Level 10 life, which is from this book, and I wanted to make my own Level 10 Life spread, but there wasn’t actually much about that concept in this book? I was confused and disappointed. There was also WAY too much product placement both of his services and of other things that distracted from the writing. It was somewhat interesting but overall didn’t help me much.

Currently Reading

I am currently reading the above adorableness that is Jenn P. Nguyen’s debut, FAKE IT TILL YOU BREAK IT. This super cute and utterly delightful romance is about two kids whose moms keep forcing them together because they want them to date, but they actually hate each other. Eventually, they decide they’ve had enough and decide to fake date and stage a dramatic break up in order to get their moms off their backs. So far, this book is lovely and delightful and I am enjoying it very much, other than Jake’s narration chapters, which I could honestly do without because I don’t like him as much as Mia and I don’t understand why he’s so mad at his brother at the present moment. Hopefully that will become clear later on. They’re also both so artsy which makes me happy because I was an artsy teen.

Reading Next

For my next reads, I am debating between two books with BEAUTIFUL covers. I want to read THE SISTERS OF THE WINTER WOOD as my backlist title for this month, since I want to read more adult books this year and love magical realism, plus it’s JEWISH and I am Jewish! I also REALLY want to read Rory Power’s debut, WILDER GIRLS, even though it doesn’t come out until July, because it was pitched as a feminist LORD OF THE FLIES about three girls and a school under quarantine and I believe it is queer, so basically it has all my favorite things. Plus, LOOK AT THAT FREAKING AMAZING COVER OMGOMGOMG!
