WWW Wednesday is a book blog meme hosted by Taking On A World of Words where book bloggers answer these questions:

  • What are you currently reading?
  • What are you reading next?
  • What did you just finish reading?

just finished

I finally finished something after two weeks of July going by! Woo! I don’t know why it took me so long to read this book even though I really loved it. Actually, I do know why; I haven’t been reading as much as usual because I haven’t been reading in the morning before work. Anyway. THE GRAVITY OF US is queer and cosmic and amazing; I loved all the amateur reporting stuff that Cal did and thought it was so cool, and the space stuff was cool, and I shipped the ship so freaking much and just…this book was perfection. I loved it so much. I’m so happy I got a signed copy at Book Expo that I can treasure forever.

I also read a couple of picture books since I am transferring to children’s librarianship that one of my colleagues recommended and really enjoyed them. You can read more about those on my new children’s book-focused Instagram.

currently reading

I am doing a lot again and trying to read three books at once even though I’ve barely been reading over the past few weeks. Here’s what I’ve been reading:

  • Lumberjanes | Mariko Tamaki – this is a kids’ chapter book based on the graphic novel series LUMBERJANES which is all about flora, fauna, and friendship! The Lumberjanes are serious #friendshipgoals. Also it’s queer.
  • The Raven Boys | Maggie Stiefvater – I’m giving this one a try again and am liking it so far. I was skeptical about it for a long time and avoided it because I HATED another one of the author’s series, SHIVER, but I seem to be having better luck with this series.
  • Daisy Jones and the Six | Taylor Jenkins Reid – I am still reading this one because as previously mentioned I have not been reading a lot. I REALLY need to fix that.

reading next

I’m still planning to read THE WEDDING DATE, since I could use a dash of romance in my reading life. I’m also planning to read my library copy of Connie Glynn’s first kid’s book, UNDERCOVER PRINCESS, which is about a princess and a normal girl who switch places at a boarding school.

  1. Wait there’s a chapter book/series of Lumberjanes?! I recently picked up Vol 3 of the graphic novels and got so ridiculously confused when I went to add to Goodreads. Now I know why…

  2. Girl, I hated Shiver as well! I only read book one and never bothered with the rest. 😂 I liked The Raven Boys a lot better, but I still didn’t ~love~ it. Maybe her writing just isn’t for me. Happy reading, though! I’m curious to see what you’ll think of it.

    1. Oh, I’m glad I wasn’t the only one! I tried reading it twice because I thought maybe I was missing something. I am liking the raven boys better so maybe it was just that one book for me.

    1. that’s good to know. I’ve been enjoying it so far so hopefully the rest of the series holds up.

    1. thank you! I’m looking forward to getting around to reading more of Daisy Jones.

I didn’t know there was a novelization until recently but it’s very cute so far. I would’ve loved it as a kid. I’ll have to give the graphic novels a try when I finish the book.
