WWW Wednesday is a book blog meme hosted by Taking On A World of Words where book bloggers answer these questions:
- What are you currently reading?
- What are you reading next?
- What did you just finish reading?
I have made no secret of the fact that I am not an Adam Silvera fan, or really a Becky Albertalli fan other than SIMON VS. Thus, I was very nervous going into this book that I wouldn’t like it. However, I liked this book immediately and fortunately that feeling stayed all the way through. It got a little too long at the end (contemps don’t really need to be over 400 pages, in my opinion), but overall I really liked it. I liked both Arthur and Ben, though I think Ben’s character was more complex, and I loved all the ships and the friendships. This book is totally charming and bittersweet, and was very well-written and fun.
I already know who really killed the family because a YA book spoiled it for me a while ago, but I still wanted to read this one since the movie is coming out. I am really enjoying this so far, though Shirley Jackson seems to be the queen of run-on sentences. The story is dark and weird and quirky and atmospheric, and Merricat is a fascinating, relatable, and interesting character. I think this will end up a new favorite when I finish it.
I know I keep saying I’m planning to read WILDCARD next and never do, but it’s because I’m waiting for the perfect time to read it uninterrupted and not at work, and this weekend is the perfect time because it’ll be Dewey’s annual 24-hr readathon!! I plan to read WILDCARD first, then hopefully I’ll have time to start on LADY’S GUIDE, which I am super embarrassed not to have read because I’ve had an eARC since forever. This will hopefully be my ultimate reading weekend with perfect books, good snacks, and fun movies in the background, so I hope I can stay up long enough to finish a book or two.
