For today’s Bookending Winter post, Lauren asks us to share books that one could read while snuggled up cozily by the fire.

  • Let’s Talk About Love | Claire Kann – This book is the snuggliest of them ALL. LET’S TALK ABOUT LOVE is a fluffy, delightful contemporary about a black, asexual biromantic girl named Alice who is coming to terms with new aspects of her sexuality after she meets a hot guy at her library job and struggles to figure out what she wants to study in college. I am firstly all about queer YA and secondly very interested in reading and promoting college-aged YA, and this book is just all-around perfect. The romance is so cute and sweet and the friendships are A+ and complex, plus great family exploration/dynamics.

  • Save the Date | Morgan Matson – This book is about what I think is a Spring or Summer wedding, but it’s so joyful and happy and warm and fuzzy that it couldn’t not be on a fireside cozy book list. It’s definitely more of a family/comedy focus than a romance focus. There is the extremely slightest hint of a romance but it is honestly barely there and doesn’t really need it even because the family stuff is mostly front and center and very involved. This book brought me so much joy and I highly, highly recommend it.

  • Shadow & Bone | Leigh Bardugo – This book is on the list definitely not because it’s warm and fuzzy (it is not) but because it gives me wintery vibes. I can’t believe I waited so long to read this book; it is definitely worth the hype and is an AMAZING fantasy. I’ve been debating rereading S&B and S&S because I forgot most of book 2 and want to try reading RUIN & RISING again even though I found the first part of it really slow the last time I tried.

  • We Have Always Lived in the Castle | Shirley Jackson – If you want a fireside read that’s more on the atmospheric, dark side, then definitely check out this book! It’s about two sisters, and one of them has been acquitted on a murder charge because she had been previously investigated in the murder of her entire family (except Uncle Julian, who is now crazy and obsessed with writing a book about the event). This book would be perfect for a dark, dark, chilly, chilly night with only the fire to comfort you…

  1. Ahhh yes Save The Date is a perfect choice for a cozy read, I love it so much and these family vibes <3 We need more books where families are just there, being the heart of the story <3

  2. I haven’t read any of these books, but having loved Leigh Bardugo’s Six of Crows, I’ve always been wondering if Shadow and Bone is truly worth the hype. I might have to check it out soon! Fun list!
