I didn’t do a weekly wrap up last week because I haven’t been reading as much, but I read a bunch this week and felt like doing one this week so hello hi here’s my slightly late in the day weekly wrap-up.
It was a relatively quiet week at work. All my teens seem to be suddenly going through their bratty phases at once, but I guess that’s typical when you’re 12-14. Working with the teens is still my favorite part of the job of course, and I feel like we are making connections with more and more teens, but DAMN they can be a lot sometimes. We also had a new security guard in training this week and usually I don’t like the security guards who train with us because they don’t get our library’s culture, but this guy really gets it and is just so sweet and the kids love him too and it’s adorable. I really wish he could stay and not be transferred to another branch so we could become friends.
On the note of friends, DAMN I need more friends in real life. I talk to my online friends more than my real life ones, other than my coworker who I see every day. I’m starting to realize some things about my friendship with my college friends and about them in general that make me sad and uncomfortable and somewhat rage-y, and honestly I’m not sure what to do about it. I don’t want to lose some of my best friends I’ve ever had, but at the same time, I feel like it’s just not working for me anymore and I don’t know what to do because talking to them about my feelings never helps.
what i read
This week I actually finished two books! I finished my reread of SIEGE & STORM after about a month. I’m not sure why it took me so long, though I don’t remember feeling like it was SO SLOW the first time I read it. So much traveling and so many war meetings. But I still enjoyed it and can’t wait to finally read RUIN & RISING, and then move on to SIX OF CROWS.
I also read Jennifer E. Smith’s new book, FIELD NOTES ON LOVE. I’ve read a few of her other books and enjoyed them, though generally they’re a little too fluffy for me even though I do enjoy a good fluffy book. My problem with her books is that there’s just not enough substance. This one was a little better on that front and had better character development than the others I’ve read, but the pacing felt really slow even though the book was short. But I guess I’ll elaborate on that more if I end up doing a full review.
I’m currently reading IF YOU’RE OUT THERE, which was one of my most anticipated March books. It’s okay so far, but the writing is a little bland and I’m not as into it as I hoped. I’ll probably read the whole thing though because I do want to know what happened to Priya, and honestly I could use a good friendship book right now where friends will go the distance.
what i posted
I haven’t been that in the mood to blog lately and I don’t know why. I still want to blog, but I would rather just focus on reading and other things for a bit?? Idk. I did post a few times this week though:
- I posted my March TBR list
- I wrote a list of adult romances I want to read
- A WWW Wednesday meme post
- And also wrote about my writing goals
