All book lovers have books on their TBR lists they are ashamed that they haven’t read yet. Today, I’m going to share a whole post of those, all of books that are popular among YA people that I have yet to read.
I actually do have this one on my Kindle, and I’m kind of contemplating reading it for the series book prompt of Astrothon. I am still embarrassed that I haven’t read these ultra-popular books yet even though in this case I do knowΒ why I haven’t read them. At the time they came out, I was just starting to outgrow juvenile fantasy and get really into contemporary YA, so this one just slipped into the cracks of unread books. However, I do really want to read this because I am starting to love fantasy again, and also everyone gushes about Leigh Bardugo and I always feel left out for not having read it.
This one I’m less ashamed of not having read yet, because I have tried it twice! I was so so excited for this one even though it’s space sci-fi, which is a genre I usually steer far, FAR away from, because it’s written in a quirky format, which is a thing I LOVE. I’ve been tempted to give it away a few times, but something has stopped me, and maybe someday I’ll get past the first 100 pages.
I avoided this one for the longest time because I HATED Maggie Stiefvater’s SHIVER series with a burning, fiery passion. I started reading this one a while ago because of all the hype, and I did actually like it, but dropped it for some reason. I also felt like I had to own all of the books before I started the series, because I have a feeling I’m going to like them and want to be able to read the whole series without waiting to buy the other books.
I really can’t believe I haven’t read this yet. All the reviews I read of it are GLOWING, and I did like the Lunar Chronicles alright. Alice retellings are my absolute favorite though, so I was really excited to buy this when it first came out. Hopefully I’ll read it soon.
I’ve only read one thing by Marie Lu because I was getting out of dystopian fiction when the Legend books started coming out, liked YOUNG ELITES okay, but not enough to continue the series. I only recently started getting interested in WARCROSS because of all the hype about WILDCARD ARCs coming out, and I’ve decided I want to give it another try. Sci-fi isn’t typically my thing, but I feel like I should make an effort to read Marie Lu since everyone loves her.
What are some popular books that you haven’t read yet? Which of these should I try out first?

Definitely Warcross! Like you, I wasnβt a huge sci-fi reader, but Iβm slowly liking it now.
Even though it does play a big role in Warcross, it doesnβt seem forced, which I liked.
I’ll definitely take that into consideration π I decided to buy it reccently because it’s just so pretty so I will probably read that one soon.
I tried Heartless & The Illuminae files, but could get into either. I read The Raven Boys and, while fun, don’t really understand all the hype. :c Haven’t read the others yet, either :c
I haven’t read the Grisha trilogy just yet, though I am reading Six of Crows right now and loving it so, very much. I think I might give this one a try sometime π
I loved Warcross so, very much – it was such an epic read overall and I hope you’ll give it a try sometime soon and will love it as much as I did π
I hope so, especially since I just bought it lol (it was too pretty and I couldn’t resist). I’m happy I’m not alone in not having read the Grisha books! I already got two major death spoilers for the Six of Crows books though so we’ll see if I end up reading those. I hope you keep loving it π
Ohh I really hope you enjoy Shadow & Bone when you decide to read it! I personally really enjoyed it, but a lot of people prefer the SOC series (I do, too), and dislike the Grisha series (which makes me a bit sad).
And I always recommend anything Marie Lu writes, so you should definitely read Warcross! π
Are the Grisha series and SOC series connected at all?
They’re set in the same world. π
oooh okay, that’s what I thought. can you read one without reading the other?
Yes!! π
I’ve finally managed to read Shadow and Bone (and really liked it!), but I’m so not caught up on all the other books by Leigh Bardugo π I hope you enjoy Warcross, I loved it and think it’s one of Marie Lu’s best books! π
ooh, that’s very promising. I tried reading Young Elites and thought it was just okay so hopefully I’ll be more impressed by Warcross. I just finished Shadow and Bone and omg so gooooood
omg yes Shadow and Bone is great! I had so low expectations, as everyone says Six of Crows is way better, so I was really blown away π
